§ Mr. Anthony GrantUp to the end of the financial year 1972–73 the total of the grants under Parts I, II and III of the Industry Act 1972 paid to applicants in the Merseyside development area was £847,742. Statistics are not available for the number of individual grants under Part I of the Act. The number of grants paid in the development area under Parts II and III was six.

§ Mr. Anthony GrantYes. During the financial year to 31st March 1973, over 5,600 applications were received for regional development grants under Part I of the Industry Act and over £8 million was paid out. During the same period 144 applications for shipbuilding construction grants were processed and about £12 million was paid.
7WAs at 28th February 1973, over 450 applications for regional selective assistance under Part II of the Act were under consideration and offers exceeding £36 million had been made. By the same date loans of £550 million in respect of 277 ships were covered by guarantees under Section 10 of the Industry Act 1972 and Section 7 of the Shipbuilding Industry Act 1967 which is superseded by this section.
