HL Deb 14 September 1972 vol 335 c600WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the estimated cost of the present programme of receiving Asian immigrants from Uganda, both in total and in cost per immigrant; and what would be the additional cost to the taxpayer of extending the acceptability of Ugandan documents to those in possession of similar documents from all other areas.

VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSS

The Uganda Resettlement Board is authorised to meet the immediate reception expenses of people expelled from Uganda, and extra money will be made available through the Board to local authorities to help with the costs arising from receiving them. Even a preliminary estimate of cost cannot be made until we know the numbers of those who have to come here and the kind and scope of the assistance that local authorities will need.
