§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable as to why, in view of the promise given to Mrs. K. Bruce during 376W the investigations into the proven offences committed by the then Detective Inspector Ronald Larby that all of her statements, etc., would be confidential, the Chief Constable of the Essex and Southend-on-Sea Joint Constabulary decided on 29th September, 1972, to supply this information to the ex-detective inspector through his solicitor.
§ Mr. CarlisleThe hon. Member is mistaken. The chief constable's letter of 29th September indicated that he would supply Mr. Larby's solicitors with a transcript of Mrs. Bruce's evidence only if she consented. She did not consent. A transcript has therefore not been supplied.
