§ Mr. Marksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment from which local authorities in the North-West Region he has received estimates of average rents of council houses under the Housing Finance Bill; and if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of these estimates, together with existing average rents.
§ Mr. EyreThe only estimate received so far was from Rochdale CBC. The average rent in Rochdale on 1st April, 1971, was £2 .30 and the council increased rents by 50p on 1st April, 1972. The council estimated that a further increase of 50p would probably bring average existing rents near or above the average fair rent estimated by the council's officers.
