HC Deb 01 May 1972 vol 836 c28W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to what extent he requires his staff to work on their normal rest days and to work overtime; and whether such staff are able to refuse to work overtime or on their normal rest days if they so desire without disciplinary action being taken against them.

Mr. Kershaw:

As regards Foreign and Commonwealth Office staff serving in the United Kingdom, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave to his Question on 27th April.—[Vol. 835, c. 361.]

There is no standard working week for Diplomatic Service officers overseas and no overtime is payable.
