§ Mr. Richardasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will make a statement on the result of his discussions with the London Borough of Hammersmith on the problems caused by the proposed closure of Butterwick House.
§ Mr. DeanI am informed that the council set up a working party some months ago to consider how to meet these problems, and after surveying the needs of the residents is making arrangements directly or through voluntary organisations to provide alternative accommodation for those who are in need of care and attention. It is also taking steps to assist other residents to find lodgings and is keeping the position under continuous review. I am satisfied that the council appreciates to the full its social services responsibilities in this matter.
