asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will obtain from the Northern Ireland Government and publish information as to how many people have been killed and injured each month as a result of Republican terrorist activity in Northern Ireland since 1st August, 1969, to the latest convenient date.

The following figures of deaths and injuries attributable to the disorders generally in Northern Ireland since 1st August, 1969, have been provided by the Northern Ireland Government. They include members of the security forces and civilians including those involved in actions against the security forces.

It is not possible to give an accurate assessment of the number of persons injured. It is estimated that 2,357 received treatment in Northern Ireland hospitals for injuries received as a result 379W of civil disturbances in the period 5th October, 1968, to 31st December, 1970. Since then the monthly figures for admission to hospital for this reason have been as follows:
