§ Mr. Ellisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to ascertain, and publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT, the number of police prosecutions in local courts brought by Welsh police authorities which have been conducted entirely in Welsh without the use of interpreters when defendants have 378W expressed a wish to be tried in that language during the 12 months ended 31st January, 1972, or the nearest convenient date, listing the figures for each authority.
§ Mr. SharplesThe chief constables concerned tell me that, according to their records, 35 prosecutions were conducted in Welsh in Dyfed Powys, 242 in Gwynedd and one in South Wales.
