HL Deb 13 June 1972 vol 331 c975WA

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What negotiations have taken place between Greece and the E.E.C. regarding associate membership or a trading agreement; what is the present policy of the E.E.C. towards Greece; and whether Her Majesty's Government agree with that policy.

An Association Agreement between the Community and Greece came into force in 1962. The application of this Agreement to the United Kingdom is governed by Articles 4 and 108 of the Act annexed to the Treaty of Accession. Negotiations between the Community and Greece, as described in Article 108, are taking place. We have been and are being consulted by the Community about their negotiating position.
