Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when the Department intends to introduce regulations for the diving industry, controlling the safety of diving personnel working from oil rigs within British jurisdiction.

Proposals for regulations under the Mineral Workings (Offshore Installations) Act, 1971, will be circulated shortly for comment by the interested parties. I shall send a copy to the hon. Member for his information.
