HC Deb 09 August 1972 vol 842 cc487-8W
Mr. Worsley

asked the Lord President of the Council what progress has been made by the Population Panel since it was set up; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. R. Carr

The Population Panel held its first meeting on 8th December, 1971, and has now had 17 meetings. I understand that the Panel has been studying the evidence available on the significance of population growth and is now considering what further work is required and how it should be conducted. I will be in a better position to make a statement when the report of the Panel has been submitted to me. The Panel is expected to report by the end of the year.
