HC Deb 01 August 1972 vol 842 c71W
70. Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment why there is no occupational analysis for the 280,000 people last employed and listed as financial, professional and miscellaneous services and public administration, in the quarterly analysis of numbers of men and women registered as wholly unemployed; and if he will take steps to introduce such an analysis for the future.

Mr. Dudley Smith

Occupational analyses of the registered wholly unemployed adults are provided at March, June, September and December. It is not possible to cross-classify this information with that provided monthly about the industries in which the registrants last worked because of the high cost involved and the resources needed to extract the details from the local unemployment registers.
