§ 25. Mr. Arthur Davidsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about the 2W closure of J. T. Rothwell's Works at Church and the steps he intends to take to attract new industry to the Accrington constituency, in order to replace the 350 jobs lost.
§ Mr. ChatawayI understand that the factory of J. T. Rothwell & Co. Ltd. is to be closed over the next few months. The measures recently announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer are directed to a faster rate of economic growth and the substantial incentive to investment in the assisted areas should ensure that Accrington obtains its full share.
