§ Mr. Arthur Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to announce the appointment of a Staff Commission under paragraph 51 of Command Paper No. 4584, Local Government in England; and if it is his policy that independent assessors should be appointed to ensure the safeguarding of staff interests.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerIt is my intention to establish the staff commission at the earliest possible moment. Legislation will be required before it can be established formally.
