HC Deb 12 March 1971 vol 813 c182W
Mr. Hamling

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposals have been made to her by the London Borough of Barnet to reduce the number of places available in its infants' schools and to increase the number of places in denominational schools.

Mr. van Straubenzee

The Barnet local education authority published notices under Section 13 of the Education Act, 1944, on 18th December, 1970, of its intention to reorganise Sunnyfields County Infants School, Hendon, to cater for juniors as well as infants. If this proposal is approved, places for some infants who would otherwise have attended Sunnyfields School will be provided in a new Church of England primary school. Objections to the authority's proposal have been received, and my right hon. Friend is awaiting the authority's comments on them before reaching a decision.
