§ 55. Mr. Peter Millsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will refuse to allow the introduction of cytoscan cyclophosphamide into this country in an effort to cut the cost of shearing sheep, in view of the dangers of any residue being present in lamb or mutton carcases and of subsequent baldness in people.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartAny proposal to market cyclophosphamide for use in sheep, to cause the fleece to be shed, should be notified to my Department under the Veterinary Products Safety Precautions Scheme. In due course under70W the Medicines Act, 1968, a licence will be needed. Approval would not be given unless my advisers were satisfied that meat from treated animals could be eaten with complete safety.
