§ 97. Sir D. Rentonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he is aware that there has been a large crop of home grown celery this winter, much of which remains unsold; and what is his policy with regard to imports of celery.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantI understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture that estimated production of celery for 197–71 is closely similar to that of the two previous years and that he has no reports of unusual quantities left unmarketed. Celery, like other horticultural products, has the normal protection of the tariff and anti-dumping legislation. There are also quantitative restrictions on imports from Eastern Area countries; none arrived in 1970.
