asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what has been the cost to public funds of the Social Science Research Council to date.

The estimated cost from 1965 to 31st March, 1971, is £8.481 million, including actual expenditure of £5.217 million by the Council up to 31st March, 1970, and estimated expenditure of £3.264 million for the current financial year.
