HC Deb 04 March 1971 vol 812 c497W
41. Mr. John E. B. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much of the £202 average annual cost of a nursery school place is for teachers' salaries; and what consideration she is giving to the Plowden Committee's recommendation that nursery classes could be more economically provided by grouping children under teachers' aides operating under the supervision of a fully qualified teacher.

Mrs. Thatcher

The answer to the first part of the Question is £75. I am undertaking a general review of nursery education and will, naturally, look at the Plowden recommendations.
