36. Mr. Wolrige-Gordoaasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the present output annually in £ sterling of the glasshouse industry; and what estimate he has made of the import saving for it in the event of Great Britain joining the Common Market.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartThe value of the glasshouse industry's output in the United Kingdom is estimated at £56 million in 1970–71. With some possible variation between individual crops, I would not expect there to be any great change in the industry's import-saving rôle in the event of our joining the Common Market.
