HC Deb 15 June 1971 vol 819 cc44-5W
33. Mr. Dixon

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates to be the increase in the money supply in the third quarter of 1971.

Mr. Higgins

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer my hon. Friend the Chief Secretary gave on 18th May to the hon. Member for The High Peak (Mr. Le Marchant).—[Vol 817, c. 1064–65.]

35. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the final out-turn figure for the percentage increase in the money supply in the financial year 1970–71.

Mr. Higgins

The money supply (M3) increased by 13 per cent. in the financial year 1970–71. This figure is affected by the effects of the postal strike and the underlying growth may have been nearer 12 per cent.
