§ 78. Mr. Barnettasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will invite representatives of the Confederation of British Industry and the Trades Union Congress to an official joint meeting with him at No. 10 Downing Street to discuss the Trades Union Congress wage proposals.
§ Mr. R. CarrI have no plans to do so. Ministers have carefully considered the T.U.C. proposals and have discussed them with the T.U.C. and C.B.I. at the meeting of the National Economic Development Council on 6th January. There will be further opportunities at the Council and elsewhere to discuss methods of tackling cost inflation.
