HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 c458W
Sir E. Bullus

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why a four-mile section of one carriageway of the M2 has been closed to motorists.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

Sections of the road from Brenley Corner to the Stock-bury Interchange are being progressively closed to enable cracking of the concrete surface to be repaired. Closure is normally limited to 2-mile stretches but sometimes has to be extended to 4 miles while fresh concrete hardens. After the main work is completed early in February further closures will be limited to one lane of the carriageway at a time while new joints are filled.
