§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps his Department is taking to identify those sections of the M1 motorway which are especially prone to fog.
§ Mr. Eldon Griffiths
The police who are responsible for actuating fog warning signs on motorways are well aware of the fog prone lengths of motorways in their areas.
Mr. Kenneth Clark
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many persons were killed and how many seriously injured in the years 1967, 1968 and 1969 on the section of the M1 motorway between Keyworth in Leicestershire and Pixton in Nottinghamshire; and how this accident record compares with the average number of accidents per mile over the motorway system as a whole in those years.
