HC Deb 02 February 1971 vol 810 cc303-4W
50. Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish the reasons put to his Department by the Leeds Regional Hospital Board for concentrating new hospital building in Bradford on the Royal Infirmary and Lynfield Mount sites.

Sir K. Joseph

The Regional Hospital Board's main reasons are that a single district general hospital would optimise the use of skilled staff and expensive equipment; and that the Bradford Royal Infirmary and Lynfield Mount sites are well situated with buildings in good condition and could be more easily, quickly and cheaply developed than the alternative site at St. Luke's Hospital and Horton Green.
