HC Deb 02 February 1971 vol 810 c349W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that leaks of official Government policy are made to the Press affecting Ministerial Departments giving detailed facts and information of Government policy obtained from official sources before this is given to the House of Commons; and whether, in view of the detailed information supplied to him by the hon. Member for West Ham, North, he will cause an investigation to be made into this subject.

The Prime Minister

Inquiries are made into suspected leaks of information when this appears justified in individual cases. I see no need for a general investigation into this subject.
