§ Mr. Kenneth Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Employment when the report of the Retail Prices Index Advisory Committee on proposals for retail price indices for regions is to be published.
§ Mr. BryanThe report is published today. The Advisory Committee report that inter-regional and inter-temporal indices, which would be compiled at annual and quarterly intervals, respectively, could be introduced for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Greater London Council area. There was a difference of view within the committee on the desirability of publishing regional prices indices. My right hon. Friend will be undertaking consultations on the report of the Committee with the C.B.I. and T.U.C. and with other interests concerned.
