Mrs. Lena Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether citizens of Eire may submit claims under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act in respect of injuries sustained during criminal assault in the United Kingdom; and whether United Kingdom citizens criminally injured in Eire may submit claims under the Act.

Under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, applications may be entertained from persons of any nationality for ex-gratia compensation in respect of criminal injuries sustained in Great Britain, or on a British vessel, aircraft, or hovercraft, but not in respect of injuries sustained elsewhere.
