§ Mr. Goldingasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will now make regulations requiring active ingredients to be named on containers and labels to bear a distinguishing mark indicating the extent of any hazard to human or other forms of life and words of explanation and warning.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartRegulations requiring pesticide products used on farms and in gardens to be labelled with the names of any scheduled active ingredients are now being prepared under the Farm and Garden Chemicals Act, 1967. Under the Pesticides Safety Precautions Scheme210W the active constituents are, however, already marked on most products' containers, which also carry the recommended safety precautions.
Further regulations requiring labels to include toxicity symbols will be considered when the discussions towards a uniform system which we are having with other countries in the Council of Europe are completed.
