HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 c204W
Mr. John Hannam

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she has reached a decision on the application made to her for a proposed expansion of Exeter University; and whether she will make a statement.

Mr. van Straubenzee

My right hon. Friend is responsible only for the total sums to be made available for all the universities in Great Britain taken together. The University Grants Committee decides on the distribution of these sums between individual institutions. I understand that most universities have already been informed of their share of the 1972–73 building programme, for which the Government has approved an allocation of £25 million.
