HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 cc203-4W
Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she is aware that children at the Swinton Fitzwilliam Junior Mixed School are still having to walk approximately 500 yards to have their school meals in the Swinton Church Hall; and if she will now give a firm date when the new school will be built.

Mr. van Straubenzee

I am aware of the conditions under which this school is operating but I cannot say when it will be replaced. It is one of 187 old primary schools notified to the Department by the West Riding Local Education Authority as requiring improvement or replacement, but in the authority's view other schools on the list have a higher priority.
