HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 c119W
26. Mr. Hamling

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what studies have been made in his Department of the effect of the building of urban motorways on urban amenities; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Graham Page

These effects of urban motorways are the subject of progressive examination, the study of them is applied to specific projects and the research upon them is continuous. In particular, the Urban Motorways Committee is making good progress in its special study of what changes in powers, policies and procedure might be helpful in fitting major roads into urban areas.
