Miss Devlin

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) on how many occasions the Schermuly Company of Dorking, Surrey, or the officers of this company have made application to his Department seeking authority to possess, purchase, acquire, manufacture, sell or transfer weapons designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or such like thing;

(2) on how many occasions authorities have been given by his Department to the Schermuly Company of Dorking, Surrey, to possess, purchase, acquire, manufacture, sell or transfer weapons of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of noxious liquid, gas or other thing; on what dates; and what was the format and ambit of the authority given.

Mr. Sharples

Messrs. Schermuly Ltd. were authorised to manufacture and deal in these weapons by the Defence Council in 1968. This authority is valid for three years from the date of issue.
