HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 cc112-3W
Mrs. Doris Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the amount of financial help given under the Urban Aid Programme to the city of Birmingham for 1969–70, and the estimated amount for 1971–72.

Mr. Sharples

Approvals were given to Birmingham in 1968–69 and 1969–70 for capital schemes to the value of £408,560 and £242,525 respectively, together with associated running expenses, and for non-capital schemes to the initial annual value of £128,110. These schemes all attract 75 per cent. Exchequer grant. The 1970–71 approvals under the Programme will be notified shortly to the local authorities concerned. It is not possible to estimate in advance, for any particular authority's area, what the new approvals or total expenditure will be in 1971–72.
