HC Deb 23 November 1970 vol 807 cc33-4W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many schools in the County of Cornwall are over 70 years old; how many between 50 and 70 years old; how many were built between 1951 and October 1964; and how many were built or started between October 1964 and June 1970.

Mr. van Straubenzee

I understand from the Cornwall local education authority that 180 primary and 9 secondary schools were built before 1903. A survey of school buildings in 1962 showed that 47 schools were built between 1903 and 1918. 36 schools were built between 1951 and October, 1964, and 21 between that date and June, 1970.

Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many private schools and providing how many places were recognised in the county of Cornwall on 1st September, 1964, and on 1st September, 1970.

Mr. van Straubenzee

Information relating to 1st September is not available but in January of each year the position was:
