HC Deb 23 November 1970 vol 807 cc23-4W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement relating to the detention of Mr. Didymus Mutasa by the illegal Rhodesian régime, and as to the number of people who are being detained without trial in Rhodesia by that régime.

Sir Alec Douglas-Home

Her Majesty's Government deplore any action which further undermines racial co-operation in Southern Rhodesia. I am not however in a position to know the circumstances of the reported detention of Mr. Didymus Mutasa, I cannot therefore comment on his case.

According to Rhodesian figures, there are 143 people in detention in Southern Rhodesia.
