HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 cc436-8W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much of the surplus of Exchequer revenue over expenditure in each year from 1964–65 to 1971–72 has been, or will be, lent to local authorities, to nationalised industries, or to other bodies within the United Kingdom.

Mr. Higgins

The figures for 1971–72 are not yet available; figures of net lending for the other years are as follows:

Mr. Pardoe

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give the Budget estimate and his latest estimate of the Exchequer revenue, expenditure, and surplus in 1970–71.

Mr. Higgins

The Budget estimates for 1970–71 included Consolidated Fund revenue of £16,124 million, expenditure of £13,526 million and a surplus for transfer to the National Loans Fund of £2,598 million. This is the latest published estimate.
