§ 102. Mr. Christopher Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will consider introducing legislation to enable local authorities to provide bridging finance for the purchase of older homes.
§ Mr. AmeryLocal authorities have power to lend for house purchase, and they are expected to give priority to purchasers of older houses among other special classes. I do not think that it is necessary, therefore, to seek powers enabling them to make bridging loans, but I will bear my hon. Friend's views in mind.
