HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 cc99-100W
98. Mr. John D. Grant

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to relieve the housing shortage in the London Borough of Islington following his talks with representatives of the Borough Council during August.

Mr. Channon

The housing problems of Islington are of long standing and are very difficult but I am impressed by the vigour with which the Council are dealing with their problem. The reform of housing finance outlined in the statement of 3rd November will place authorities with severe housing problems in a better position to solve them speedily. My right hon. Friend is writing to all the London Boroughs to discuss their future housing programmes.
