HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 cc29-30W
85. Mr. Gourlay

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if, in view of the interest in stereophonic sound broadcasting in Scotland, he will approve the extension of this form of broadcasting to the central area of Scotland on the same priority basis as that obtaining in England.

Mr. Chataway

The B.B.C. are responsible for the extension of their services including stereophonic broadcasting.

They tell me that they plan to extend the stereo transmissions of Radio-3 northwards to Scotland, and other parts of the United Kingdom as their means permit.
