asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will now make a statement about the handling of mail in this country bearing the stamps of the illegal de facto régime in Rhodesia.

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications whether he will now make a statement about the abolition of the surcharge on Rhodesia mail.

99. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications is he will make a statement on the outcome of his review of the surcharge on postage from Rhodesia.

Mr. Chataway

As a result of the review which I announced to the House on 6th July the Government decided that the practice of surcharging mail bearing invalid Rhodesian stamps should cease. The Post Office gave effect to this decision on 8th October.

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will now remove the surcharge imposed on postal packets emanating from Rhodesia.

Mr. Chataway

The surcharge was lifted on 8th October.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications if he will now make a statement on the surcharge of private mail from Rhodesia, including the admission of propaganda material free of surcharge.
