§ Mr. William Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will introduce legislation to compel wine bottles to carry a statement of the quantity of wine they contain and wine sold by the glass or carafe to be sold under a declared quantity and the delivery of a certificate of origin with each consignment of wine to the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. RidleyI am considering whether to require bottles to be marked to show the quantity of wine which they contain and to require restaurants to declare the quantity of wine in a carafe. I do not think that it would be appropriate for the Government at this stage to introduce the other controls suggested by the hon. Member.
