HC Deb 05 November 1970 vol 805 c414W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) when the agreement between Her Majesty's Government and Securicor Limited relating to the supervision of immigrants was made;

(2) what training is given to those employees of Securicor Limited who are engaged in the supervision of immigrants who are refused entry to this country; by whom is such training administered; and what supervision is given by his Department to such trainees;

(3) what steps are taken by his Department to ensure that persons employed by Securicor Limited and who are engaged in the supervision of immigrants who are refused entry to this country are persons of suitable character, training and personality.

Mr. Sharples

The contract between Securicor Limited and the Home Office was signed on 1st July this year.

From experience gained in doing similar work for the airlines at London Airport since 1967, Securicor is well able to select suitable personnel and to give them adequate training in both the custodial and welfare aspects of their duties. The work is done under the constant supervision of the Immigration Service.
