HC Deb 04 November 1970 vol 805 cc358-9W
69. Sir G. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware of the forecast shortage of water in the East Midlands and East Anglia; and what action he proposes to take on the report of the Water Resources Board Desk Study entitled, The Wash: Estuary Storage.

80. Sir D. Renton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will, without delay, accept the recommendations of the Water Resources Board with regard to the future use of the Wash and, in particular, order an immediate start to be made of a full feasibility study.

Mr. Peter Walker

I am aware that it will be necessary to develop new sources of supply for these areas in the 1980s. I am studying the report and shall announce my conclusion on the recommendations as soon as possible.
