HC Deb 04 November 1970 vol 805 c358W
66. Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will reconsider the decision announced by his Department on 26th October to refuse planning permission for the proposed extension of the runway of Leeds/Bradford Airport.

71. Mr. Edward Lyons

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment in view of his refusal to permit the extension of the Leeds-Bradford Airport runway, what proposals he has to meet the need of the West Riding of Yorkshire for modern air communications.

72. Mr. Albert Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment in view of his refusal to allow the extension of the runway at Leeds/Bradford and West Riding Airport and the dispute as to the facts, what amount of compensation he proposes to pay the Airport Authority, taking into consideration that over £2 million of money raised by local rates has been spent.

Mr. Graham Page

The application for planning permission of the joint Airport Committee has been determined. I have no power to re-open the matter and there is no question of compensation being paid.
