HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 c277W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the increase in costs and inconvenience caused to the people of Eccles, Swinton and Pendlebury by the proposed reorganisation of the local offices of his department, he will reconsider his decision; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dean

No. We are not proposing to close our offices at Eccles and Pendlebury, only to transfer the backroom insurance work of these offices to our Salford office, and there will be no additional expense or inconvenience for claimants. I wrote to the hon. Member on 28th July explaining the reasons for the proposed reorganisation and I shall be writing to him again on this matter.
