HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 cc621-2W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what percentage of Glasgow's housing revenue account was financed by Government grants in the year 1969–70; what was the comparable percentage in the year 1963–64; and what estimate he has made of the comparable percentage in the current financial year.

Mr. Ross:

I understand that in 1963–64 the proportion was 26.5 per cent. A figure for 1969–70 will not be available for some time, and I have made no estimate for 1970–71.

Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total sum spent by Glasgow Corporation on interest payments for municipal housing in 1969–70; what was the comparable total in 1963–64; and what estimate he has made of the comparable sum in 1970–71.

Mr. Ross:

I understand that the amount was £6.7 million in 1963–64. The figure for 1969–70 will not be available for some time, and I have made no estimate for 1970–71.

Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what further steps he proposes to take to assist Glasgow with its housing problem.

Mr. Ross:

I will continue to give the Corporation all possible assistance.
