Mr. Boyden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the capital expenditure on the hospital and health services in the Bishop Auckland constituency in each of the years 1965 to 1969, respectively, and on what projects.

Details of capital expenditure by the Newcastle Regional Hospital Board on hospitals in the Bishop Auckland constituency in the five financial years are as follows:

In the financial years 1965–66 to 1969–70 inclusive loan consent has been recommended, after application by Durham County Council, for the following local authority health service project within the area of the Bishop Auckland constituency:—

(including £5,550 for professional fees, authorised in 1967–68).

Mr. Boyden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what capital expenditure is planned on the hospital and health services in the Bishop Auckland constituency in 1970, 1971 and 1972, respectively, and on what projects.

Mr. Crossman:

The Newcastle Regional Hospital Board at present plan capital expenditure in the financial year 1970–71 of £30,000 on Bishop Auckland General Hospital. The programme for later years has not yet been decided.

For the financial years 1970–71 to 1972–73 inclusive I hope that it will be possible to recommend loan consent for the following local authority health service projects planned by Durham County Council within the area of the Bishop Auckland constituency:
