HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 c634W
Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what increase is needed in the weekly flat-rate contribution on the basis that employers and insured persons meet in this way the whole cost of increasing retirement pensions by £5, £7 and £10, respectively.

Mr. Ennals:

If the higher benefit rates were restricted to retirement pensions, the flat-rate contributions of the employed adult man and of his employer would each have to be increased by 17s., 24s. and 34s., respectively, with proportionate increases for other classes of contributors.
