HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c580W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the continuing use of five-ton rubbish lorries by his agents on road work building, which are untaxed, uninsured, with faulty tyres and without test certificates, he will send a communication in addition to that sent on 30th April to major contractors, to sub-contractors and local authorities, advising them to report the vehicle owners to the appropriate law enforcement officers.

Mr. Bob Brown:

I do not think such action is warranted at this stage. I would prefer to wait and see how effective the letter to major contractors has been, and it is too early yet to judge this.
